Right?

That sounds like you are leaning toward the libertarian position -- but you can't be a libertarian and also be a liberal, so I guess you have some soul searching to do...

Remember, liberals think that the know what is best for everyone, and will do whatever it takes to gain the power so they can help everyone do better (by their standards). Facists, on the other hand, merely want all the power for themselves so they can live a life of luxury and ease while conquoring the world. Libertarians want none of the above, and just want everyone to maximize individual freedoms, which means NO regulation of any sort, anywhere.

You, so far, are a liberal, but you PERSONALLY want a to have a lot of libertarian freedom for YOU. Doesn't work that way...

Ahh, conservatives don't think they know what's right for everyone? I guess they didn't enact a law mandating that adults wear seatbelts? In Arizona they believe in placing cameras on our roadways to ensure we don't speed, blow red lights, or follow cars too closely. They don't want to allow woman to keep the rights to their bodies... And so on and so on...

The ONLY rights conservatives seem to be concerned with is the right to bare arms and their right to harass woman about having abortions

Conservatives are not for personal rights, any more than any other party.

Ex-Bear Stearns managers arrested

Quote:
NEW YORK - Two former Bear Stearns managers have been arrested, federal authorities said Thursday, becoming the first executives to face criminal charges in the wake of the subprime market debacle.

Matthew Tannin was taken into custody outside his New Jersey home on Thursday morning and Ralph Cioffi was arrested at his New York City home, the FBI said.

The U.S. attorney's office in Brooklyn said it planned to announce conspiracy and fraud charges later Thursday...

...The implosion of the hedge funds foreshadowed Bear Stearns' own demise, with the Federal Reserve having to intervene earlier this year to bail out the beleaguered bank. Their collapse revealed how much damage had been done to the companies that bought, repackaged and sold the loans.

Despite positive assessments by Cioffi and Tannin, the Bear Stearns hedge funds failed in June 2007. The funds had more than $20 billion in assets before crashing.

Cioffi, 52, and Tannin, 46, already have been named in lawsuits brought last year by hedge fund investors, including Barclays Bank PLC, who allege they were purposely misled.

Barclays accused Bear Stearns of knowing for months that certain assets in the Bear Stearns High-Grade Structured Credit Strategies Enhanced Leverage Master Fund were worth "far less" than their stated values.

The bank alleged Bear Stearns managers "hatched a plan to make more money for themselves and further to use the Enhanced Fund as a repository for risky, poor-quality investments."

The complaint said Bear Stearns told Barclays that the enhanced fund was up almost 6 percent through June 2007 - when "in reality, the portfolio's asset values were plummeting."

.

not true

I consider my self to be conservative.
Yes I fully support the right to bare arms.
And no I dont harass women about having an abortion.

I like what Julliani had to say about the matter
" I think abortion is wrong, but I dont think it is some thing women should be put into prision for."

Rick, you are not really very black and white at all, which is why a lot of people seem to be at odds with so many of your posts...

Here, you are advocating for government controls -- for SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING FOR ONCE...

Yet, in another thread, you said this in a rather facetious manner:

Another angle on the repo situation

Realtor forms non-profit to help pets left behind

Quote:
West Valley real estate broker Jan Marie Bennett is an animal lover and has been for years.

As home foreclosures continue to escalate and delinquent borrowers are forced to forfeit their homes, Bennett and fellow Realtors have noted an ancillary tragedy - the abandonment of beloved and well-tended pets.

"I personally found three animals in the past month that were left behind," said Bennett, who lives in Surprise but has her office in Glendale. "People are leaving their pets. It's heart-wrenching."

Equally dangerous is when the former homeowners leave their dog or cat with a minimal amount of food and water, thinking a Realtor or bank official will soon come to inspect the house.

That's not the case, say Realtors across the Valley. Weeks can go by with the pets left with no food or water in a sweltering house as utilities are shut off.

Other owners frantically search for no-kill shelters or pet-rescue organizations, but Valley shelter managers say they are already at capacity, with many having to turn animals away...

..."We had a disabled vet who was evicted and trying to find a safe place for his two Lab-mix dogs, Maggie and her son Max, who he'd had since the mother was a puppy," Bennett said. "We posted their photos Sunday morning and by Monday we had three foster homes offered. And we always need more foster families."

This just in from Reuters News: Foreclosure filings rose on an annual basis in 39 states to a total of 252,363 properties during the month, with Nevada, California, Arizona and Florida posting the highest foreclosure rates.

One out of every 501 U.S. households received a notice of default, auction sale or bank repossession in June, RealtyTrac said.

Phoenix's mortgage problem spreading

Quote:
Foreclosures across metro Phoenix number 16,647 for the first half of the year compared with 9,966 during all of 2007 and 1,070 in 2006...

...Notice of trustee sales, or pre-foreclosures, also continue to climb. There were 35,111 pre-foreclosures filed in Maricopa County through July. That compares with 30,166 for all of 2007...

..."Foreclosures are a problem for almost every neighborhood of the Valley now," said Margie O'Campo de Castillo of Arizona Dream Realty. "The problem has trickled in and will continue to get worse as people lose jobs and struggle in this economy.
