It's Time for "Stump the Shamaal"!!

Ok kids, it''s time for

Stump the Shamaal

Where contestants vie for valuable prizes, by challenging their intellect against that of the great Shamaal.
The prizes will change from time to time, for now we are competing for an Explorerforum license plate frame!

OBJECT: To ask a question Shamaal cannot answer within a reasonable time
(what is a reasonable time? ask him)

Now for the rules

1) Anyone can play (until further notice), However you must be 18 years of age to win a knife by mail.
2) Questions should be chosen from a general knowledge base. The theme may chenge from week to week, as the need dictates.
No questions like "how many teeth does my girlfriend have?" or specifics, like "how many bolts in a 747 jet?"
3)Question validity will be the sole decision of the judge---Who is that? Ask Shamaal.

4) Successful "stumpers" will be placed in a pool, with a winner chosen By Rick on Sunday of that week.
5) Only one active stump question allowed per player--if he answers correctly, you may ask another.
6) Previous winners not eligible for prize, but are welcomed to play.
7)To collect the prize, be sure to PM jtsmith on the EF website with a good shipping address

OK--let's play Stump the Shamaal!!!

Unfortunately botanically speaking there is no such genera as a tree. One can look at the woody plants (lignosae) and rightly call them trees, but then one excludes the palms and the softwood trees. Having said that the UN Food and Agricultural organization which keeps track of these things,
reports 22,260 named species that can be considered trees.
Incidentally, that conflicts with Erwin who statistically estimate over 50,000 species of trees in the tropics alone. But he includes undiscovered species, which does not fit in with the question.

So, I'll estimate 25,000 currently named species of plants that can be called trees.

Thank you for playing.

Normal is 95% of the population. A CBC contains info on Red and White Blood Cells and platelets. Normal can vary according to the lab and or population but for 95% of the population the following ranges apply

Red Cell Count - 4.5 to 6.5 x 10^12/L for males
Total White Blood Cells are 4 to 11 x 10^9/L
Platelets 150 to 400 x 10^9/L

Females and further breakdowns into haemoglobins, crits and further tedious details can be found in any decent phlebotomy handbook.

Shamaal was hired by DuPont to work ACA machines in hospitals. Those tests that they charge $39.00 for - cost $0.65.

Thank you for playing.

Red light at night, sailors delight, red light in morning sailors take warning.

Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Sunlight is made up of many colors. The blue light portion is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere. Blue is scattered more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

However as the atmosphere gets denser, when we look at the horizon for example, the blue light is really scattered and we see the remaining orange then red.

Thank you for playing

GM built four cars called "X" bodies. The four cars built happened to spell out the name of one of the cars.

What are the names of these cars?

The Shamaal is not afraid to answer this question.

Shamaal in EF works his wonders through a lot of PMs and behind the scenes magic.

Shamaal recalls at least eight cars involved in the X bodies series, the anagramattic vehicles were:

Nova
Omega
Ventura
Apollo

Thank you for playing!
